The answer is....lindlars catalyst proceeds via syn addition, with both H being added on same side and selectively reducing alkynes and stopping at alkenes...the mechanism is similar to normal hydrogenation with H2/Ni,Pt only change being it is poisoned with various forms of lead and sulfur, which reduces the amount of hydrogen adsorbed on surface of catalyat
